Describe the staircase as a route
Note straight flights, tight turns, low ceilings and doors opening onto landings. Explain whether the stairs are shared and whether there are rules about keeping them clear. A sofa or wardrobe can be limited by a turn rather than the stair width itself. Include measurements where possible instead of relying on “standard stairs”.
Agree the handling before arrival
Identify heavy furniture, fragile parts and items needing dismantling. Say if you need all carrying provided. The number of movers must follow the assessed job, not the phrase man and van. If an item cannot be handled through the normal route, specialist arrangements are not automatically available or included.
