Make a package-level inventory
A single product may arrive in several boxes of different sizes. Record the quantity, length, width, depth and published weight where available. Include rails, glass packs and fittings cartons. If several products are being collected, group the packages by product so missing pieces are easier for you to identify.
Protect the panels and plan access
Long cartons may need more turning room than expected, particularly on stairs or in a lift. Describe any damaged packaging and ask about suitable protection before collection. Keep boxes dry and do not unpack solely to save space without discussing the handling implications. Furniture assembly is separate from transport unless agreed.
Give the quote the right starting point
- Use the retailer’s package information where it is available.
- Identify both collection access and the destination floor.
- Say whether boxes should be left together in one room or split between rooms.
