Wardrobe collection: the London plan
A London move needs a borough and full postcode as well as a building name. For a flat, send the floor, lift-door dimensions and any move-in appointment before asking for a vehicle size. A concierge booking and roadside loading permission are separate arrangements.
- Assembled and panel sizes: include the details for both ends of this move.
- Construction and mirror details: include the details for both ends of this move.
- Dismantling responsibility: include the details for both ends of this move.
Check the construction with the owner
Ask whether the wardrobe is solid furniture, a modular system or flat-pack construction. Note sliding doors, mirrored panels and fixed backs. Previously assembled flat-pack furniture may not tolerate repeated dismantling. Explain its condition and supply the manufacturer or assembly instructions where available; suitability cannot be assumed from a photograph.
Allow for height when turning
Measure the route including ceiling height where the wardrobe must turn, not just the entrance opening. If it is to travel as panels, give the longest panel size and identify glass components. Empty the wardrobe and agree how shelves, rails and fittings will be packed. Dismantling and reassembly need an explicit agreement.
Your wardrobe collection checklist
- Confirm that the seller will release all doors, shelves and fittings.
- State whether it is empty and prepared to carry.
- Describe access to the final room, including stairs and tight corners.
Resolve borough, building and loading bay
For an inner-London furniture purchase, ask the seller to measure the item in its travel condition and show the route from the room to the street. A pavement handover must be agreed explicitly; it cannot be assumed when a seller offers collection only.
For this wardrobe collection request, explain any uncertainty about assembled and panel sizes before accepting a quote. The collection-ready time, vehicle access and recipient availability must work together; a short driving distance does not remove the handling work.
Before you confirm wardrobe collection
Send the full collection and delivery addresses, assembled and panel sizes and construction and mirror details, and photographs of any awkward access. Ask for a written scope covering the handling required at your London address.
Check the proposed supplier, price, vehicle or crew, relevant cover and any waiting arrangements. Do not release the goods until the booking and handover instructions have been agreed.
