Furniture collection: the London plan
If the move crosses London, keep the key-release time, reserved lift slot and loading window together in the enquiry. Label boxes by destination room so unloading can use the agreed building slot efficiently.
- Item dimensions: include the details for both ends of this move.
- Seller collection window: include the details for both ends of this move.
- Doors, floors and stairs: include the details for both ends of this move.
Measure before arranging transport
For a sofa, bed, wardrobe or table, provide length, width and height. Ask whether legs, doors or sections can be removed and whether the item will already be dismantled. Tell us about fragile surfaces, glass or unusually heavy materials.
Check the route into your home as well as out of the seller’s property. Door widths, stair turns and lift dimensions can decide whether a collection is practical. A photo can support the discussion, but measurements and access details still matter.
Coordinate seller and delivery access
Confirm who will release the furniture, where the item is located and which entrance should be used. A seller’s availability is separate from your transport booking; both need to line up before collection.
For a shop or storage-unit collection around London, ask about loading access, release paperwork and any fixed appointment. Include the full postcode rather than only the shop name.
Agree what happens at each end
Say whether you need the item carried from an upstairs room and where it should go on delivery. Dismantling, reassembly and specialist handling must be requested and confirmed, rather than assumed.
For an appliance, explain its condition, size and preparation. Electrical, plumbing and gas work are not included by default. This is a transport enquiry, not a waste-disposal or house-clearance booking.
Resolve borough, building and loading bay
A London move needs a borough and full postcode as well as a building name. For a flat, send the floor, lift-door dimensions and any move-in appointment before asking for a vehicle size. A concierge booking and roadside loading permission are separate arrangements.
For this furniture collection request, explain any uncertainty about doors, floors and stairs before accepting a quote. The collection-ready time, vehicle access and recipient availability must work together; a short driving distance does not remove the handling work.
Before you confirm furniture collection
Send the full collection and delivery addresses, item dimensions and seller collection window, and photographs of any awkward access. Ask for a written scope covering the handling required at your London address.
Check the proposed supplier, price, vehicle or crew, relevant cover and any waiting arrangements. Do not release the goods until the booking and handover instructions have been agreed.
