Partial packing enquiries: the London plan
For an inner-London furniture purchase, ask the seller to measure the item in its travel condition and show the route from the room to the street. A pavement handover must be agreed explicitly; it cannot be assumed when a seller offers collection only.
- Items you will pack: include the details for both ends of this move.
- Items needing packing help: include the details for both ends of this move.
- Materials and timing to agree: include the details for both ends of this move.
Define the boundary of the packing work
Name the rooms or categories needing help, such as kitchen contents or ornaments, and estimate their quantity. Mark cupboards or personal belongings you will handle yourself. A request to “help with packing” is too broad to establish materials, time or the condition in which the rest of the load should be ready.
Agree materials and sequence
Confirm who supplies boxes, wrapping and tape, whether packing occurs before or on the moving day, and what happens to furniture awaiting preparation. Flag particularly fragile or valuable items for assessment. Packing suitability and charges must be agreed; selecting the option in the form is not a confirmed service booking.
Prepare a clear division of work
- List the exact contents to be packed by arrangement.
- Keep documents, medicines and valuables under your own control.
- Identify which self-packed boxes will be ready at collection.
Resolve borough, building and loading bay
If the move crosses London, keep the key-release time, reserved lift slot and loading window together in the enquiry. Label boxes by destination room so unloading can use the agreed building slot efficiently.
For this partial packing enquiries request, explain any uncertainty about items needing packing help before accepting a quote. The collection-ready time, vehicle access and recipient availability must work together; a short driving distance does not remove the handling work.
Before you confirm partial packing enquiries
Send the full collection and delivery addresses, items you will pack and items needing packing help, and photographs of any awkward access. Ask for a written scope covering the handling required at your London address.
Check the proposed supplier, price, vehicle or crew, relevant cover and any waiting arrangements. Do not release the goods until the booking and handover instructions have been agreed.
